I recently acquired a .38 special and cannot identify whether it is pre 10 or 36 model. The serial number is C149596. The serial number is stamped on the handle, barrel and cylinder. Hard to tell the exact serial number, depending on how you hold the gun. If I hold the gun and look at the serial number on the bottom of the handle - and the barrel is pointing to my left the serial number is 60699.
